Ramallosa Natural Area

A Ramallosa Natural Area:
Confluence of ecosystems

When a river flows into the sea, it generates spaces of interest for biodiversity, especially when the river itself and the sea it flows into have the same strength. The river Miñor rises in the Sierra de O Galiñeiro and flows into the Atlantic Ocean, in an estuary with a great wealth of fish, waders and vegetation.

Don’t pass by, enjoy this magical enclave.

Further information:

Listed as a Natura 2000 Network, ZEPVN and SCI, the estuary generated by the river Miñor stretches from the Xunqueira bridge (Gondomar) to its entry into the Baiona estuary next to Ladeira beach. As it passes over the Ramallosa bridge, the river narrows to a width of only 60 metres. At its widest part it reaches 350 m, and at the end of its course it narrows again because of Ladeira beach just before it joins the Atlantic Ocean, where it is only about 75 m wide. The estuary, which has sandy and marshy parts, is populated mainly by reeds and salt marshes.

In the beach areas, pine trees are abundant, being the most common species.
